From Las Vegas to Los Angeles
One quick last show in Vegas, Joan River impersonator and one quick last Brazilian steak, before taking on to the road again for our last leg of the journey. Been a Saturday we started to see many motorbike on the road and the traffic is becoming a bit more heavy, and it was not long before we hit Los Angeles suburbs, it was hot and slow traffic, I had noticed the day before the battery was not charging properly, but surely one more day she will be right mate…No she was not right, 30 miles before Santa Monica she start coughing, the bike not the battery, the battery was dead. As I saw that coming I just had time to exit the freeway and park the bike in a nice little street under the shade of a tree…better than, been in the sun on the freeway with 36 degrees. I always knew if you own a Harley you have to own a Ute.
Luckily a dealer was not too far away and they also give us a lift to Town. They drop us at Santa Monica as it is officially the end of Route 66. So all was good.
We took a taxi to our friend Michelle and Claude Innocenti where we where treated with Champagne and a nice BBQ. Life is good in LA.
Next day we visited the J Paul Getty Museum and it was an eye opener for the details reproduction of a villa near Naples, it took us several hours to explore the collection of western paintings, drawings and sculptures dating from the Middle Ages to the present. One of the most visited museums in the US, the Getty Center is a must-see!
We still had a full day to walking around Rodeo drive, Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Lunch at Tiffany…
Well that’s it, back on the plane to OZ, I probably will be depressed for the next few days, after riding on the best roads and experiencing the best scenery, but that’s life, it is always next year.
